Forever Cheese was founded in 1998 by Michele Buster and Pierluigi Sini, who share a passion for great cheese, and wanted to bring the finest of the Mediterranean to an American audience. Every product we carry is personally hand-selected by Michele and Pierluigi, to ensure that it’s exceptional and meets their high standards.
In the early 1990’s, Pierluigi inspired Michele with his desire to put his family’s cheeses in the best specialty food stores in the U.S. They struck a deal – if he would teach her cheese, she would find a way to do just that. Michele and Pierluigi worked tirelessly night and day to achieve this goal. Along the way they added a myriad of other Italian cheeses then moved into Spanish, and later Portuguese and Croatian cheeses. In 1998, they formed Forever Cheese, and created the brand Mitica to help unify the ever growing product line. Ironically, shortly after creating the company Forever Cheese, they started importing handmade fig cakes, and a wide assortment of exceptional quality honeys, preserves, and other accompaniments to help customers create added value to cheese sales.
Their relationships with artisan producers have been an integral part of their success. They believe that every product tells a story, and that educating customers on the artisans, methods, and history create a more special experience and connection with the products.
